PR Experience

BNSF Railway, Social Media and Web Content Specialist

While working  at BNSF Railway, I was one of the main creators of social media content for various platforms and audiences. I would source material from a variety of different departments within the company to create engaging and informative content about our business. Since the beginning of my time at BNSF Railway I have helped grow our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Linkedin audiences by 23, 53, 20 and 29 percent, respectively. Additionally, I wrote for our corporate blog, Rail Talk, and edited content on our corporate website for SEO, clarity and brevity to improve our user experience on mobile viewing platforms.

Sara Hussey, Public Relations Intern

I worked for a boutique PR firm in Austin, Texas. My duties as PR intern included curating media lists, running social media accounts, and reaching out to media outlets about events for a myriad of clients. Some of our notable clients include Adelante Boutique, RAD Office Tour, The Refinery, Loot Vintage Rentals, and The Fine Goods Market.  I also wrote material for the firm’s blog, curated social media campaigns and assisted in drafting media pitches and press releases for both local and national publications.

Appen Butler-Hill, Social Media Evaluator

During my time at Appen Butler-Hill, I worked on a project in which I rated posts based on how much I would want to see the content in my feed. The goal of this project was to help a client determine the types of content people are most interested in seeing. I had to provide commentary and explain why I would want to see a particular post in order to give the client a broader perspective on why I would enjoy a specific type of content. In addition, I had to compare two different styles of content and choose which one I would rather see in my feed.

amfAR Cinema Against Aids, Volunteer

I worked with the event coordinating team to prepare gift bags and invitations for their prestigious gala, which takes place during the Cannes Film Festival in May. I organized teams to increase efficiency in creating large amounts of invitation boxes, made deliveries to various hotels and villas throughout Cannes, France. During the event I set up and guided VIP guests to their tables at the after party and verified that the correct wristbands got into the VIP section.

Terry Scholars of North Texas, Public Relations Chair

I expanded our virtual relationship with members of our society by creating our very first social media accounts on Twitter and Instagram. Throughout the semester I maintained these profiles by uploading content and encouraging others to attend events.
